Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. Safety is essential for a healing relationship to develop.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, which I am required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
- If a client is actively participating in the sex industry by creating, downloading and storing child (under age 18) pornography, I am obligated to report.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have moved my practice home and online with Zoom offering teletherapy.
I am using Simple Practice, a program created for medical and mental health professionals. Once you are in my system, I will give you access to the Client Portal where you will find forms, information and documents.
I am using Stripe for billing using a client's credit card, and I will send a monthly superbill if the client has insurance they wish to access.
I make every effort to create a seamless process for both the client and for me. I don't want to waste time and energy on routine matters as our time is a highly valuable asset!
Questions and concerns are important, so contact me and we can go forward together.
